In a world overrun with the Dead, you have survived... but for how long?
Into the Dead throws you into the gruesome world of the zombie apocalypse where there are no second chances. Do what you have to in order to stay alive, keep moving as fast as you can, and protect yourself by any means necessary. When the Dead are rising, run!
About the Game
PikPok seems to understand that less is more, something most developers need to start doing. There is no story, no music, just the sound of your character breathing and a few snarls from passing zombies. There are no levels all you need to do is run, it is endless. More and more zombies appear making the game ever so difficult, with fire power and perks at your side you should hope to escape from this everlasting running.
When you first open the app you can see how simple the UI is, it’s clean and easy to use. There are currently two game modes ‘ Classic - Survive for as long as you can,’ and ‘Massacre - Kill as many zombies as you can,’ Massacre can be obtained by completing mission 10.
The aim of the game is straightforward... survive. The opening scene is what looks to be you survived a helicopter crash and a swarm of flesh eating zombies are approaching your character turns and begins running through a field, this is where you take control. There are several control options for you to select. The controls are basic, left, right and shoot, your character jumps automatically over fences and trees etc.
Whilst running there are things to help you along the way, you have weapon crates, which gives you any weapon you have already unlocked at random, and there are some Christian crosses along the way, some of them have a glowing object in front these are weapons too. HINT: Look for crows in the sky, beneath them is where the crate will be.
Playing the game is great and addictive, there are 3 scenery's I have encountered, fields, corn fields and a forest. If you hit objects such as trees etc your character stumbles and even stumbles if you graze a zombie. You life ends upon a direct encounter with a zombie.
Additionally you can add perks each time you play, currently there are four, Armed Start, Head Start, Ammo Boost and More Crates. You can see that Companion is greyed out which is coming in a future update. Each perk you use takes 100 coins from your total, you earn coins by killing zombies, travelling certain distances and completing missions, alternatively you can purchase more coins using the in-app purchasing options.
There are 9 weapons in total which you can unlock in two ways, completing missions or using fast unlock which costs more coins. The weapons get more powerful the further you get. I have only just unlocked the Revolver, so I still have a fair amount to unlock. The worst weapon is the chainsaw by far, there is no range and it runs out of gas very quickly.
There are a total of 14 achievements to unlock totalling 645 points, and includes leader boards so you can see how well you and your friends are doing.
- Amazing game play, extremely addictive.
- Great graphics.
- Easy to use controls.
- Simple menu screen.
- Lack of weapon upgrades, fire rate, more ammo etc, as even with the 50% extra ammo perk I find still isn’t enough.
- Not many perks (More are coming in future updates).
- Not many game modes (More are coming in future updates).
- Needs more scenery other than the 3 listed above.
